SAN Storage

A storage area network or SAN is a network of storage devices accessed by multiple computers or servers. It provides a shared pool of storage space which allows each computer on SAN to get access to the storage area. Therefore, SAN is a specialized, high-speed network that comprises switches, hosts, storage elements, devices, and more to offer block-level network access to storage. The devices typically remain connected using diverse topologies, technologies, protocols, etc. SANs can also span multiple sites. Therefore, it enables hosts to use locally attached storage equipment, enhancing application performance, improving storage utilization and effectiveness, etc.
