NIC Cards

A network interface card refers to the hardware component, either a chip or a circuit board which is to be installed on the computer to connect to the network. These mainly provide the functionality to the computers like support for I/O interrupt, data transmission, direct memory access (DMA) interfaces, network traffic engineering, etc. It also offers a dedicated, full-time connection to the computer connected to the network. So, the physical layer circuitry is necessary for communicating with the data link layer like Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Therefore, each card signifies a device that can transmit, prepare, and control the data flow on the network.
