The Avocent PM 3000 Series Power Management Distribution Units (PM PDUs) include single-phase and three-phase models that support outlet-level metering and port switching. This advanced family of rack PDUs includes horizontal and vertical models for a variety of rack configurations in branch and remote offices. With the ability to support up to 22 kW and models that include support for C19 outlets, the Avocent PM PDUs are well positioned to support the high rack density found in organizations today.

The PM PDUs include an LED display and a built-in browser interface for local and remote access to real-time data. The metering features, along with the capability to set custom thresholds, allow companies to optimize their electrical infrastructure, without the risk of downtime due to overloaded circuits.

The PM 3000 PDUs enable companies of all sizes to accurately measure the current, voltage and power for each individual outlet or the entire strip and the circuits within. With the added benefit of port switching capability, these PDUs provide data center professionals with the tools they need to monitor, measure, reduce and manage the growing power consumption costs of IT equipment.

All of these PDUs include advanced features that consist of a built-in network port for access to the browser interface, daisy chain ports for easy installation and expansion and support for external, environmental sensors.

For a total solution, the PM 3000 devices can be used with other Avocent appliances for integrated IP access to the attached equipment, along with power measurement and/or control for improved remote management. When used with the DSView® 3 management software, users gain secure access and control across multiple locations. The optional DSView 3 Power Manager plug-in allows real-time and historical reporting of capacity, consumption and cost across single PDUs or groups of PDUs.

  • Outlet-Level, Phase-Level and Strip-Level Current/Voltage/Power Metering with Threshold/Alert Capabilities – Provides preemptive notification of any impending overload issues before they occur and simplifies the task of installing new equipment (Note- measurement resolution +/- %5)
  • Capability to Remotely Switch Outlets Through On-Board Web Interface, DSView 3 Management Software – Allows power to hung up IT equipment to be recycled, turned on or turned off remotely for faster resolution time
  • On-Board Web Interface – Can be installed for direct access right out of the box or it can be configured as part of a larger integrated solution using the DSView 3 management software
  • IP and Serial Interface Options – Options to install by connecting directly to the network or save IP connections by using the serial interface to connect directly to Avocent appliances already connected to the network
  • Daisy Chaining – Saves the number of IP addresses or console/KVM ports that are required to manage all power distribution needs
  • Integration with DSView 3 Management Software – Single interface for management of IT equipment and PDUs simplifies mapping of outlets to servers and other equipment in order to reduce and minimize power cycling the wrong equipment
  • Integration with DSView 3 Software Power Manager Plug-In – Track historical trends to measure and monitor IT power consumption, capacity and cost in order to understand what issues exist and to make more informed decisions in the future
  • Electronic Overcurrent Protection – An added layer of protection that is activated in the event of minor overloads; during such events, outlets are turned off first instead of the primary overcurrent protection (OCP) tripping
  • Sequential Startup – Protects integrity of all upstream electrical infrastructure by staggering the inrush current draw of all plugged-in devices
  • Internal Temperature Sensor and Two Optional External Sensors – These sensors can measure environmental factors at several different points within the rack
