1U size is the standard one that measures 1.75-inches of rack height. Therefore, a 2U rack mount is 2 x 1.75, i.e., 3.5 inches in height. Individual power supplies are mounted within the rack-mounted enclosures that need integral power. In such cases, the power supply might be shorter than the server’s overall height.
